Putz-Sea afloat

Our new Dinghy, Putz-Sea a Portland Pudgy, arrived this week. Of course on a raining day so I got drenched hauling it to the dock just so Steve could look at it when he got home from work. I guess since he "chumps" it five days a week I could do that for him. 

She fits nicely on the butterfly hatch. Steve will now rebuild the boom gallo back behind the cockpit. We also received the new Honda Generator. So we are set. We are done buying big items. Cant believe it! 

Putz-Sea rides great, so stable. Our 2.3 Honda motor is slow but stready, just the way we like it. 

What' New?

Not very much. This waiting game is really getting to me. We are waiting for the new dinghy to arrive as well as the Honda generator. We have made all of the big purchases that were on the list. Now we sit back and wait. Wait for hurricane season to end and to save as much money as possible. Those are difficult things to do together. I tend to spend money when I am bored and anxious and I am bored and very anxious. 

My little part time job with UTMB has kicked in so that gives me something to do. I have been training once a week for a few hours. They are preparing me for the exam. I have to know what to say and most of what Not to say. They dont want me helping the student out any. Next month is the exam. I will go in twice a week for half days. I believe I will have six to eight students a day. Dress rehersal is next week, nervous. 

The dinghy should be in next week. Steve will be busy rebuilding the boom gallo with my son. That will be a nice treat for me. I will get to see my son in action. He is back to welding now that he is out of the military. I will enjoy seeing him being a man. I know most men dont realize that their mothers go through an adjustment time in their lives when they go from a teenager to a man, but we do. Well I am. I think it is taking me longer because I havent gotten to watch it on a daily basis so it puts me into a some what shock everytime I see him. Things just stand out to me, like the size and shape of his hands. Amazing! He use to be inside me! 

Any ways, I am guessing these next three months will be boring. I will have to keep myself from taking trips and spending money as much as I can. So if anyone wants to entertain me feel free. Just remember I said entertain not annoy. :-)

The only pics I have to share are of me annoying Fairlane at the pet store. I tried to talk her into getting a pair of shoes and a hat but she didnt go for it.

Weekend full of projects

So after the great weekend at Offatts, Steve quickly started right in on his todo list. He ordered the new dinghy during the week. He pulled the exhaust hoses up and discovered the new muffler has a crack in it which was causing noise, water and a terrible smell. He replaced the alternator belt. Then he pulled the port hand rail up and rebedded it to fix a leak we found with this weeks rains. 

Next, he will remove the boom gallos and move them back to give room for our new Portland Pudgy, Putz-Sea to sit ontop of the butterfly hatch. This will be interesting. Steve will be doing what he seems to love, reconfiguring the boat. He will take down the Bimini and have a new one made, which is necessary for this Boat Diva and her princess, Fairlane. 

Im really not surprised that Steve has found a new project to have completed in the next four months. He really was running out of projects, even if he doesnt admit to it. 

Sorry, I forgot to take pictures of him working this weekend. Fairlane and I have been stuck outside while our headliner has been out and tools and tool bags were everywhere. Ill try to remember next time. 

Great weekend anchored at Offatts Bayou

We had a successful weekend at Offatts Bayou in Galveston. Despite running a ground where Everyone has warned us. 

As usual when going to Galveston, we had to motor. Thankfully we had great weather. Ran a ground at the last marker going in. Steve tried to get us off with an achor but no luck. Some kids in a motor boat tried as well. Finally called for a tow. We were easily pulled off and pull far away from the oyster bed. Then,  Steve set anchor right in the middle, way away from everything and everyone.  Our new anchor felt very secure and we slept great. We woke to a beautiful morning.

So there are a few things that need adjusting but pretty good in our opinion.

We went ashore for coctails with friends. Steve admired friend' sun glasses

I had the opertunity to mark off zip lining from my bucket list. I posted a video on youtube for proof

If cruising ends up like this weekend we will be lifers for sure. Cant wait to see for ourselves

 

 

Had a Great Sail

As the title said, it was a great one. Nothing broke and the weather and company was perfect. 

Samantha, my daughter, and her friend arrives early and with food.  Weather was perfect, temp and wind. Saga Sea sailed like the cadie she is. Perfect perfect perfect.  

Then we finished the day at Gillhooleys where Samantha made her friend eat a gizzard, but she barely would try an oyster. Poor sport. 

A complete great day! 

Nervous

Nervous this morning. Taking Saga Sea out for a day sail. The beginning of condition for her big run in October. 

If anyone sees her out in the bay today please take a picture of her. 

Departure time is getting closer

Just got back from visiting my best friend in Spokane, Washington. Her and I go way back and we have worked very hard to see each other each year. This year was my turn to go there and it was a high priority to me to do before we leave. 

Fairlane and I had a good time. I did some yard work and flocked a few yards with flamingos for her son who was raising money for a competition. 

We had a lovely night at a wine, ride and dine event downtown Spokane. 

Had a cool night listening to Kurt and his fellow bagpipers play to raise money. The only downfall that night was they would never look under the kilts. Boo 

Having good friends takes hard work but it well worth it. I hope we never stop being close and I hope we always figure out how to see each other. I have a feeling times will only get better. 

Now its time to do some shake down cruises. Yeah
