If anyone sees her out in the bay today please take a picture of her.

Departure time is getting closer

Just got back from visiting my best friend in Spokane, Washington. Her and I go way back and we have worked very hard to see each other each year. This year was my turn to go there and it was a high priority to me to do before we leave.

Fairlane and I had a good time. I did some yard work and flocked a few yards with flamingos for her son who was raising money for a competition.

We had a lovely night at a wine, ride and dine event downtown Spokane.

Had a cool night listening to Kurt and his fellow bagpipers play to raise money. The only downfall that night was they would never look under the kilts. Boo

Having good friends takes hard work but it well worth it. I hope we never stop being close and I hope we always figure out how to see each other. I have a feeling times will only get better.

Now its time to do some shake down cruises. Yeah

Star struck

For years now, my celebrities have been people that are travelers who are pushing the envelope. People who dont conform to society; yet, share their lives and thoughts with the world.

This weekend we had the honor of meeting a couple we have followed for nearly eleven years. We have enjoyed watching them circumnavigate the world on a catamaran, then they traveled in a vintage VW Bus, had few kids while living on a monohull, now traveling the world in a vintage RV.  http://www.bumfuzzle.com/

We not only meet them but we hosted a meet and greet BBQ for them. It was amazing! We loved seeing the followers that came to meet them. We loved seeing how all of us basic strangers were greeted by them as if we were old friends. They have opened  themselves and lives to the world for nothing. They receive no monetary gain from doing this.  Writing on a blog is one thing but to also be open to getting to know the readers is on another.

We were a little nervous to meet them in person. We realized that they may not be what we have made them to be in our minds, like characters in a book.  But they were just as we thought they would be and It even seemed they were able to take my sense of humor, thank goodness. Hopefully, I didnt offend them too much, I mean everything in fun.

I hope they realize how doing what they are truely inspires others. I hope they take credit for the growth in younger family cruisers/travelers. I believe they have greatly impacted my generation. Kiddos to you Bumfuzzles.

We want to thank them and their followers that share yesterday with us. We enjoyed every bit of it.

Happy Life Adventures to All

Spring Fever

Im having a case of Spring Fever, not to clean but to leave. Two neighbors are leaving for Florida and it just makes me want to untie the lines and take off. Im itching for some new waters. I have to keep telling myself to just wait, good things come to those who wait, right?

In any case, Fairlane needs more time to heal, Steve needs more time to finish things on our list and we could always use the financial cushion waiting will provide. We decide to add back a wind generator onto the list. So thats needs to arrive and be installed. Steve is also working out where to get the 250ft of chain for the new Rocna anchor. Then the outboard and Honda generator.

In July, I get to go play patient at UTMB, at least I hope. I get to see how well I can act. Hopefully, im not too terrible because Im really looking forward to the challenge.

We need to scheule some long weekends for some shakedown cruises. We want to see what breaks and see what might need improving or changed. So hopefully we can break away and make time for that.

My son and his wife should be coming home to stay sometime this summer, at least we hope. Im glad Ill still be around for that. These next five months are needed to complete things the right way and to take advantage of precious time with family and friends. I need to remember that we are planning to stay gone, unlike the neighbors leaving now.

Rocky Month

This month has been a bit rocky but we are keeping our heads up and staying with the plan. Fairlane has shown some improvements but watching her go through it all is heart breaking for me since Im her full time care taker. My son and his lovely wife have been going through rough times with their loss.  Please keep them in your prayers.

On a boat note, my new stove is in and working great!  Steve installed the stove and the AIS unit all in one weekend. So we are still on track. The only things left on our list is another anchor with 275 ft of chain, an outboard for the dingy, and a small honda generator, OH and the marriage saver headphones. Lol.

We gear up for a few shakedown trips. We will see what we can break.  :-)

Not such good news

Our baby, Fairlane, is in terrible shape. She has always been our little sensitive special needs princess but as of this past Monday it has taken a turn for the worse. She woke up to pain in her neck then she couldnt stand. She has been to the vets and now overnight at a speciality clinic. It looks as if she has hydrocephalus which is a genic disoder where fluid builds up in her brain and possibly her spinal cord. This would explain her issues all these years.

Needless to say the outcome of this information isnt good. If all this is accurate, which we will know in the next 24 hours, we will have to see how she response to medication which is a slim chance but possible. If not we will have to let her go to be a princess in heaven and my mother will get her baby back. As my daughter reminded me yesterday, that my mother didnt want to give her up anyways.

Steve and I are so grateful to have her these past years. Hopefully she will get to join us on our great travels as she has been a great traveling companion.

Keep us all in your prayers and we will keep everyone updated

Checking things off the list

As time draws near we have been busy completing items on our list.  Even the things we really didn't want to, that one was going to get my plumbing checked out. I have a strong family history of heart disease. Both of my parents died in their early sixties from heart disease.  Other family members have had heart attacks and bypass surgeries.  So I made myself go through the necessary test to check out things to prevent any major health issue later.

After a nuclear stress test, a panic trip to the ER from major stress and a heart cath test, I am relieved to announce that all is well. Steve says this means I no longer have an excuse for napping all the time. I argued that I am still the Boat Diva and can do as I please. Ha!

While all the medical tests taking place, Steve has been busy installing our navigation equipment. Our VHF radio, Eperp, depth meter and DC power outlet has all been installed. All our DC fans have been installed. Oh as well as out wifi equipment.  Next on our list is the AIS, one more anchor and a new stove.  Stove should go in while I'm away visiting a friend in a few weeks.

As the weather is turning pleasant we should start taking our shake down trips. Time to go break a few things.  Fun fun.
