Back in Honduras Bay Islands, Utila 1st

Utila is now our check in and check out port for the Bay Islands.  We enjoy the convenience of the location for the Port Captain's and Immigration offices.  We also love how convenient it is to get all the supplies we need in Utila.  It is becoming fast one of our favorites spots.

I love the coffee shop with a dock for the dinghy and wifi.. 💕

Sunsets are Gorgeous!

Able to get different food and Ice coffee

Plenty of bars/restaurants that have a great view of our home

The Island is small enough that it only takes a few hours to tour it in a Golf Cart.

The roads aren't always the best especially after rains

But they can be fun!

Until you get the Golf Cart stuck.. then it Sucks big time. We recommend renting the  4 wheeler.. not the golf cart unless you stay on paved roads

I thought you would all enjoy seeing how it can really be traveling with us..

Steve was in a Very bad mood because of this for a few days  hahaha

But once he received the new VHF that a few friends muled to us.. he was on a much better mood. He also got a new tablet.

I am still working remotely and loving it!

This is a restaurant's dish washing area..

These next videos of this awesome resort/restaurant that is amazing.. the restaurant was closed when we went there but we were able to tour the place.
We love the Jade Sea Horse

We stayed a few weeks in Utila then we headed to French Key Harbor in Roatan.  We will be back in Utila at the end of our 90 day stay in the Bay Islands

Inland Guatemala Travel

Since we canceled our trip to England we decided to check out places we hear about from our fellow cruisers. Two places that stood out for me was Antigua and Lake Atitlan.

Luckily, we found a shuttle service that we can take Schooner on without paying a fortune. They are the smaller buses but we don't mind.

So we set off on our trip.  We lucked out on space on the bus, there were only 6 of us passengers.  We all stretched out like cats. (That was Steve's description)

Not long into the trip our driver started stopping at auto part stores.  We didn't know exactly what he was looking for, a part or a person.  Finally, things started to make sense. He pulled off the road and assisted a fellow bus driver.

Then we were told we needed to gather our stuff and move over to the bus that was needing the repairs.  LOL this was a bit concerning.

That bus driver set off and not long stopped to get water for the bus.  Lol

After a very rapid drive to Antigua, we arrived around 8:30 pm.  We left the Rio at 1 pm.  We believe the new driver was either trying to make up time or not let the bus over heat.. we were thrown around like rag dolls.

Once, safely off the bus and in downtown Antigua with perfect weather we called the trip a success.

Now, I have a ton of pictures so I will break this story into at least a few posts.  Because, this blog is mostly for my own records and it is very time consuming.

We enjoyed the temperature and food most in Antigua.  I have decided to come each summer while we hide from the hurricanes.

Here are a few pictures .. I promise to post more and tell you more about the trip.

Need to stay flexible because life can Suck sometimes

Life is filled with ups and downs even when it looks like your "living the dream".  Don't be fooled, everything doesn't always go as planned for us.  We have succeeded in many plans, but it never goes exactly as planned.

That being said, we have cancelled our trip to England.  The reasons are personal, and we are sure some will find us a bit nutty but what is new.  We cancelled our trip because England would not allow Schooner to ride in the airplane cabin.  We usually fly United, and all were approved with them but they passed the buck to England and England would not allow her to ride in the cabin because we were travelling with a health certificate from Guatemala. We had all the necessary paperwork that they state on their website, but in the end, they decided to decline her for passage in the cabin.

We are glad we got this settled months before the trip.  Now we plan for something new...  Antiqua, Guatemala for a few weeks.

Let's see we left off in Roatan.  We had a short visit to the Bay Islands.  We made our rounds very quickly. We travelled up to Calebash then French Harbor.  We visited with a few old friends and met a few new ones.

We are still having issues with our alternator.  It is looking to be more of a control panel issue.  Steve is continuing to troubleshoot it.

I've been working some here and there.  Also been helping others with their computer needs.

We met a lovely local man in Roatan that is a construction builder. He was gracious enough to offer a ride back to our boat one day.  You can see some of his beautiful work at Campbell Construction Roatan on Facebook. We genuinely enjoy the people of the Bay Islands.

There is always something to fix on a boat...

Steve on a short passage from West End to Calebash

In Calebash we visited with friends that were housesitting for some expats.  The thing about moving to countries such as Honduras, you are in Paradise, but you can't leave very quickly.  It is much harder to find someone reliable to watch pets, and your property is at risk.  Some of us cruisers are finding it a nice break to help people with housesitting.  We plan to housesit in Guatemala soon.

So this is our last night in Roatan with some new friends.. trying out a pizza joint owned by EXcrusiers from Texas

Ok, these pictures are from Little French Key #LFKRoatan

We went there to say hello to a friend.. it is a small tourist place near our anchorage. We were splurging when we went there. Later we were disgusted to find that they are destroying the reef with their construction. It has really opened our eyes to places like this.  yes, they are beautiful but at what cost?

Ok folks.... enough for now.. our next stop is Utila.. the last Bay Island for us to see.. more later..

Remember to be good to yourself and to OTHERS!
