Traditional Dories
Steve and I love many things of the Bay Island culture. One of them is the use of Dories as water taxis. I believe we are actually seeing the end of the tradition. Faster outboard motor boats are taking over. I wanted to document them before they are gone. We first saw them in Guanaja. They are long, slender wooden boats with an inboard diesel engine. They are started with a rope wrapped around a pulley that connect to the drive shaft. Some seem to be air cooled.
