Star struck

For years now, my celebrities have been people that are travelers who are pushing the envelope. People who dont conform to society; yet, share their lives and thoughts with the world.

This weekend we had the honor of meeting a couple we have followed for nearly eleven years. We have enjoyed watching them circumnavigate the world on a catamaran, then they traveled in a vintage VW Bus, had few kids while living on a monohull, now traveling the world in a vintage RV.  http://www.bumfuzzle.com/

We not only meet them but we hosted a meet and greet BBQ for them. It was amazing! We loved seeing the followers that came to meet them. We loved seeing how all of us basic strangers were greeted by them as if we were old friends. They have opened  themselves and lives to the world for nothing. They receive no monetary gain from doing this.  Writing on a blog is one thing but to also be open to getting to know the readers is on another.

We were a little nervous to meet them in person. We realized that they may not be what we have made them to be in our minds, like characters in a book.  But they were just as we thought they would be and It even seemed they were able to take my sense of humor, thank goodness. Hopefully, I didnt offend them too much, I mean everything in fun.

I hope they realize how doing what they are truely inspires others. I hope they take credit for the growth in younger family cruisers/travelers. I believe they have greatly impacted my generation. Kiddos to you Bumfuzzles.

We want to thank them and their followers that share yesterday with us. We enjoyed every bit of it.

Happy Life Adventures to All

Spring Fever

Im having a case of Spring Fever, not to clean but to leave. Two neighbors are leaving for Florida and it just makes me want to untie the lines and take off. Im itching for some new waters. I have to keep telling myself to just wait, good things come to those who wait, right?

In any case, Fairlane needs more time to heal, Steve needs more time to finish things on our list and we could always use the financial cushion waiting will provide. We decide to add back a wind generator onto the list. So thats needs to arrive and be installed. Steve is also working out where to get the 250ft of chain for the new Rocna anchor. Then the outboard and Honda generator.

In July, I get to go play patient at UTMB, at least I hope. I get to see how well I can act. Hopefully, im not too terrible because Im really looking forward to the challenge.

We need to scheule some long weekends for some shakedown cruises. We want to see what breaks and see what might need improving or changed. So hopefully we can break away and make time for that.

My son and his wife should be coming home to stay sometime this summer, at least we hope. Im glad Ill still be around for that. These next five months are needed to complete things the right way and to take advantage of precious time with family and friends. I need to remember that we are planning to stay gone, unlike the neighbors leaving now.

Rocky Month

This month has been a bit rocky but we are keeping our heads up and staying with the plan. Fairlane has shown some improvements but watching her go through it all is heart breaking for me since Im her full time care taker. My son and his lovely wife have been going through rough times with their loss.  Please keep them in your prayers.

On a boat note, my new stove is in and working great!  Steve installed the stove and the AIS unit all in one weekend. So we are still on track. The only things left on our list is another anchor with 275 ft of chain, an outboard for the dingy, and a small honda generator, OH and the marriage saver headphones. Lol.

We gear up for a few shakedown trips. We will see what we can break.  :-)
